Job Description

Flint Hills Resources is an independent refining and chemicals company. The company has expanded its operations through capital projects and acquisitions worth more than $5.3 billion since 2002. Its refineries and ethanol plants produce fuels that power much of Texas, the Midwest and the Alaska interior. Its petrochemicals are used to manufacture goods such as plastics, building products and packaging materials. Its asphalt is used in communities across the Midwest and Alaska. The base oils it markets are the principle raw material used to produce premium motor oil, commercial lubricants and sealants and coatings.
Flint Hills Resources employs about 3,600 people who are focused on creating value for customers and society. This workforce includes plant operators, accountants, marketers, environmental, health and safety professionals and engineers, among other career types, who work in a variety of settings: corporate headquarters, terminals, refineries, ethanol plants, chemical plants or sales offices. The company owns refineries and chemical plants in Alaska, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Texas, and ethanol plants in Iowa. In addition, the company owns and operates fuel and/or asphalt terminals in Alaska, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. Flint Hills owns an interest in base oils plant in Louisiana, and a biodiesel feedstock development company in California. In addition to sales offices in North America, the company has a sales presence in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Belgium to serve global customers.Our Reliability Center of Excellence in Houston is responsible for supporting FHR operating assets by assisting with RCFA's, leading FMCA's, and coordinating the discipline technology and leading technology teams. As Global Leader - Instrumentation, you will join the Reliability Center of Excellence team in providing both tactical and strategic support to twelve of our largest sites. More than just project work, youll bring your understanding of instrumentation and SIS to the team responsible for handling the reliability performance of these programs. Your top-notch written and verbal communication skills will prove invaluable as you share input with all levels of the organization. Your willingness to embrace change and engage in the challenge process will serve as a model for our teams as you assist in creatively solving problems and resolving conflicts. The Global Leader should clearly understand the business challenges involved, as well as your personal performance objectives. While some elements may evolve as the needs of the organization change, in this self-directed role you can anticipate:

Developing and leading cross-site FHR instrument technology teams.
Overseeing cross-site SIS and instrument reliability improvement programs.
Driving cross-site learnings and talent across the organization.
Influencing change through the development of effective value propositions.
Capturing and sharing instrument learnings across the organization.
Supporting side instrument and SIS Root Cause Failure Analysis.
Establishing external instrument and SIS networks.

Work Experience and Skills Required

10+ years of plant instrument and SIS experience
5+ years of leadership experience and proven results in a petrochemical environment
Knowledge of SIS systems and regulations
Self directed, results oriented, and able to deliver in a very autonomous environment (home office)

Education Required

Bachelors of Science from an accredited university

Education Preferred

Bachelors of Science in an engineering discipline

Other Considerations

This role requires up to 70% travel to FHR sites. It may also involve physical demands within a typical refinery atmosphere. This includes the ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, work at elevated heights, lift 50 pounds and work occasional turnaround or maintenance outage assignments involving night shifts and/or weekends.

Physical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions

Travel to sites, walking inside plants, occasional climbing of towers, occasional night or weekend shift assignments associated with projects and turnarounds
