The incumbent will be expected to quickly evaluate the current state of the reengineering of the Quartz & Ceramics logistics operations globally, propose and justify any changes in direction or focus to achieve and maintain coherent global logistics operations for the Quartz and Ceramics business units with the right balance of:
In-sourced and out-sourced services to achieve the best overall costs, service, and safety, and
Direct-shipped, drop-shipped, cross-docked, and locally stored materials to maximize delivery performance to the customer while minimizing costs and handling risks, and then to continue executing the appropriate reengineering efforts within a coordinated timeline.
The incumbent will be expected to represent the Quartz and Ceramics business units in negotiations for all logistics services, including those with carriers on rates and SLAs, with freight forwarders and customs brokers, and with 3PL and 4PL providers globally.
The incumbent will be expected to organize and manage any remaining internal staff as well as manage the contract compliance with any of the out-sourced logistics providers that are a part of the restructured operations.
The Sr. Manager, Logistics - Quartz & Ceramics , is also responsible for Corporate Inventory Integrity, and adherence to SOX Key Controls, involving Revenue Recognition, Inventory Management, and Segregation of Duties.
Continually evaluate the existing logistics operations including costs, service, reliability and risks.
Propose, justify, and gain acceptance of any overall reengineering efforts to achieve a safe, sustainable, globally standardized logistics operation.
Select appropriate providers of logistics services and as part of the Global SQD Logistics team, and in conjunction with Corporate Logistics Procurment, negotiate sustainable, cost effective contracts containing clear compliance metrics.
Manage the implementation of any contracts with the selected providers.
Effectively represent the Quartz & Ceramics business units in any global Momentive negotiation of carrier rates and SLAs or freight forwarding, customs brokering, or 3 or 4PL services.
Organize and manage staff in the shipping, receiving, or warehouse functions within the Quartz & Ceramics business units.
Business plan development and demonstrated execution skills
Demonstrated success in working in a matrix environment and with global teams
Group facilitation skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
SAP and MS Office Suite and MS Project skills
Extensive experience (10+ years) in logistics operations, both with internal and 3PL or 4PL resources
Extensive experience in outsourcing logistics services, including the clear definition of requirements and compliance metrics, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier and contract management
Extensive experience in import/export from one region of the world to/from others is required others required.
Significant experience in import/export across multiple countries
Bachelor s degree in business or related technical field.
MBA or equivalent with specialization in operations and/or logistics preferred.
