Program Evaluation and RESEARCH Collaborative (PERC)

Salary Range: $17.00 - $22.00/hourly

Work Schedule. This is a full-time position: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt position. This position is eligible for benefits.

Summary: The incumbent will coordinate the activities associated with grants and contracts as well as assist with processing of evaluation surveys. The incumbent will also assist with academic research and manuscripts.


60% -Directs the activities associated with grants and contracts proposals development for faculty within the Charter College of Education. Identifies potential funding sources for CCOE faculty agencies’ and private foundations’ program areas and mission, probability of funding, award ceilings, eligibility and timing requirements. Reviews grant proposals and identifies and resolves eligibility and compliance issues related to university and sponsor requirements. Oversees the preparation and timely submission of grant applications, application amendments, and budget transfers. Monitors compliance with agency or foundation and University regulations regarding submission; verifies all financial information to include application of the appropriate overhead rate for the project.

20%- Prepare evaluation instruments/ surveys. Collect data through various instruments. Compile and input data from evaluation surveys and focus groups. Prepare draft project and evaluations reports and assist in grant and evaluation proposal development. Represent PERC at client meetings when assigned as well as assist in developing PowerPoint presentations for seminars and other presentations.

10% -Prepares and updates budget reports and informs supervisor of corrections/ adjustments that have been made. Executes grantee monitoring processes, including conduction assessments and site visits, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, and identifying and discussing implications. Proactively interprets and assesses grantee gaps, provides technical assistance as necessary and addresses issues. Arranges for evaluation plans for potential grantees, if required, through the Program Evaluation and Research Collaborative (PERC) office at Cal State LA.

10% - Assists with academic research. Assists with the editing, preparation and submission of manuscripts. Assists with duties related to peer review roles for academic journals. Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss research assignments. Prepares literature reviews and gathers and analyzes data. Prepares materials for submission to agencies and foundations that fund research. Prepares materials for HSRB(Human Research Subjects Board) review. Manages and replies to project-related correspondence.

Requirements: The incumbent must have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and experience in research and grants management. The incumbent must also have knowledge and experience with designing and maintaining filing systems including electronic and paper. The incumbent must have strong interpersonal and research skills and must also be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The incumbent must have the ability to use Pivot and AASCUGRC grants research system, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science). The incumbent must also be self-motivated and able to set priorities and meet deadlines in a complex work environment involving multiple projects. The incumbent must also demonstrate an interest and or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Fingerprinting will be taken and checked by the California Department of Justice and the FBI. The incumbent is responsible for the fingerprinting processing fee. A completed UAS employment application is required.

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of University Auxiliary Services (UAS) forms and procedures.
