Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist/Paralegal position performs a wide variety of activities with a focus on HR, payroll, benefits and legal duties. This position is responsible for ensuring payroll/benefit services are delivered accurately, timely and compliant with Company policies and Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements for all company locations. Additionally, this position reviews and drafts corporate documents, pleadings and contractual agreements. Support corporate compliance and human resources. All duties require great discretion.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities - Payroll Duties

*

Process multi-state, semi-monthly payroll for 135+ employees accurately and in a timely manner.
*

Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
*

Reconciles time off requests per payroll records against time tracking Payroll system to ensure the proper accrual balances maintained.
*

Prepare semi-monthly deduction reports (medical, dental, vision, supplemental, H.S.A., 401k) to balance with payroll.
*

Review payroll and benefits documentation for accuracy through audit reports.
*

Work closely with the Finance team on General Ledger entries and corresponding balance and spreadsheet data.
*

Input new hires, term and change data in the Exponent HR system.
*

Communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff on a daily basis.
*

Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information such as PTO, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, and other changes.
*

Research, analyze and resolve problems or questions presented by employees or managers utilizing knowledge ExponentHR system
*

Ensure systems and controls are set up accurately within Exponent HR system to ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines
*

Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports as needed by management.
*

Calculate monthly sales commissions in accordance with current sales incentive compensation plans and submit to management for approval.
*

Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

HR & Benefits Administration

*

Assist with new hire orientation including I-9 compliance
*

New hire set up, follow-up, terms, qualifying events, etc.
*

Assist with recruiting initiatives such as career page website updates, interview scheduling, researching and posting.
*

Assist with annual open enrollment meetings.
*

Effectively interpret FMLA, ADA and WC laws and administration of these programs.
*

Knowledge and use of ExponentHR system, Background Screening and Benefit websites
*

Assistant with creating a culture of C.A.R.E. through service delivery, newsletters, announcements, etc.

Secondary Responsibilities: Paralegal Duties

*

Draft, review and revise corporate documents, pleadings, and agreements
*

Draft and review EEOC position statements
*

Assists in matters resolved through alternate dispute resolution matters
*

Respond to inquiries from federal and state governmental entities for audits and other regulatory compliance
*

Review and summarize complex contract provisions
*

Respond to complex inquiries regarding legal provisions and forms
*

Conduct legal research of assigned issues and preparing legal memorandum
*

Legal administrative duties
*

Assigned additional projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

*

Bachelor's degree HR Management and/or equivalent experience in HR/Payroll & Benefits and Paralegal.
*

Five+ years of payroll, benefits and HR experience required.
*

Three+ years of paralegal experience required.
*

Minimum of 5+ years' experience processing payroll for over 100 employees both salary, hourly and commission in a multi-state environment.
*

Experience with ExponentHR a plus.

Technology: Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel (V-Lookup), Outlook & Power Point.
