We have an immediate need for a Hardware Engineer

Job Description:

In this position, the Principal HW Design Engineer will be responsible for design, development, and sustaining of our products. The chosen candidate will work closely with New Product Development team including Project Management, HW/SW Development (both internal and external outsourced resources), MKT, V&V, MFG- to design and develop HW that meet marketing and customer requirements. Main responsibilities include:

. Participates in the development of system architectures and derive requirements for the HW development group.
. Participates in project scheduling, project planning, preparing HW Requirement/Design Specification, Statement of Work, schematic design, simulation, PCB layout, component analysis/selection, and prototyping first articles for engineering evaluation, formal V&V, qualification, and release to MFG.
. For projects that are executed at our Outsourced Partner (OSP), participates in the decision making process of what part of the project will be outsourced, develops the SOW, and prepares design requirements packages for the OSP. During the implementation phase at the OSP, coordinates with the OSP to manage the design implementation to ensure that the design delivered by the OSP will meet all requirements.
. Provide test requirement specification, test procedure, and assist Test Engineers in developing production test solution.
. Perform engineering evaluation and verification of new designs.
. Once the design is frozen, assist Product Assurance Engineers to formally verify, validate the new designs during formal V&V. Also support the qualification and certification of the new products to required Safety Standards by performing EMI/EMC, Burn-In, and other reliability testing.
. Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure all HW designs meet Testability and Manufacturability requirements. Support initial pilot run and ramp phase.
. Participate in sustaining, customer support activities for existing products in the field.
. Participates in identifying, evaluating, and selecting design tools and equipments.
. Participates in identifying, evaluating, and selecting qualified external subcontractors to support new product development.


Requirements:

. Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
. 10+ years hardware design experience in the following areas: Industrial controls, aerospace, communications, computers, automated test equipment, instrumentation, medical devices, etc.
. Experience in managing development resources from external service providers or outsourced partners.
. Design of embedded analog/digital PCB's, modules, sub-systems, and systems using state of the art microprocessors, FPGA's, CPLD's, ASIC's, etc-
. ASIC/FPGA/CPLD development and verification.
. VHDL/Verilog coding, expertise with high level synthesis tools, test bench development and proficiency in the use of ModelSim to resolve pre and post route logic and timing issues.
. Knowledge of high speed PCB design and layout rules/guidelines.
. Schematic capture using OrCAD or similar SW packages. Proficient in MS applications (i.e. Project, Excel, etc.).
. Excellent diagnostic, debug, and troubleshooting skills using standard lab/bench equipments.
. Experience in a new product development environment with knowledge of Design for Test, Design for Manufacturability, environmental, EMI/EMC, and qualification testing for new products.
. Ability to translate MRD (Marketing Requirement Document), high level system requirements documents into HW specific design requirements.
. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to document procedures, write technical reports.
