The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. The Health Educator manages the daily activities of the peer health education program and the Health Promotion office. In collaboration with supervisor, plans, coordinates and co-facilitates the peer health educator training curriculum. Learns to apply professional health education concepts and implement initiatives that support the Healthy Campus objectives. Works with supervisor to create and implement assessment plans for both the peer education training program as well as department initiatives. Assists with routine administrative tasks related to the operation of the Health Promotion unit. Applies campus policies and procedures to resolve routine issues. Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Bachelor s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Basic knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
Skills associated with the delivery of health promotion and education programs, preferred.
Effective interpersonal skills needed to work with a diverse student group.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including strong public speaking skills.
Ability to work in a busy, multifaceted work environment.
