JOB SUMMARY: HEALTH EDUCATION TRAINER State Health Programs The Trainer, SHP, supports the planning, implementation and evaluation of health education improvement and prevention programs on a variety of health related topics targeting members of Health Net's State Health Programs, including Medi Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids and AIM. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES: * Teaches health education classes to members and potential members. * Facilitates discussions, makes presentations, performs demonstrations with class participants to increase health knowledge and health promotion. * Promotes health education programs and services, including health screenings, at health fairs. * Presents various health and prevention programs to groups. * Provides administrative support in the design and delivery of health education programs, activities and events such as gathering and compiling information for evaluations, needs assessments, programs and interventions. * Monitors, evaluates and reports on class/health fair outcomes. * Assists with researches and maintains new health education resources and information. * Collects and tracks program data for outcome reports. * Tracks and reports departmental expenses. * Assists in generating program performance reports. * Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree in health related field (health education, public health, exercise science, nutrition science, nursing, etc.) Master's degree in public health preferred Certification/License: Experience: * Minimum one year of experience planning, teaching/facilitating and evaluating health education classes * Knowledge of managed health care preferred * Content expert in nutrition/obesity, diabetes, asthma, hypertension and other chronic diseases preferred * Experience conducting blood pressure and body fat screenings preferred * Experience working with diverse multicultural communities preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to work independently and as a team member * Presentation/teaching skills * Customer services skills * Written and verbal communication skills * Bilingual English/Spanish (speaking, reading and writing) * Organizational and time management skills * Personal computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office * Must possess valid State driver's license and insurance coverage if driving a vehicle for company business OR Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
