Under general supervision, the Histotechnologist performs all aspects of histologic slide preparations for diagnosis including routine and special tests, maintenance and quality control, and computer functions. Associates degree in science with at least two (2) years of full-time experience in histopathology within the last five (5) years OR Successful completion of an accredited histotechnology program, registry eligible OR Bachelors degree with one (1) year of full time experience in histopathology within the last five (5) years. Dependent upon level of education acquired Knowledge of histologic theory, practices, and standards Skills in cellular evaluation and interpretation Skill in oral, written and interpersonal communication Skill in basic computers Skill in basic mathematics, data analysis and problem solving Ability to operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment. Ability to prioritize work, organize and transfer data accurately. Certification as a registered HT or HTL by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) preferred. As Needed Days
