Description

* Primary Function: Responsible for the day to day supervision of adjusters within an assigned unit to insure the proper handling of claims and that they are performing according to the established claim guidelines and procedures. Assists in providing insureds, claimants and other persons involved the best possible claim services Directly handle a limited number of severe or complex matters as needed.

* Authority: Perform duties according to the established claim procedures and guidelines with regular exercise of independent judgment. Will provide settlement and reserving authority within their personal authority. Monitor and report any issues regarding coverage, fraud, arson, attorney involvement or any other issue that will have an impact upon the company.

* Specific Responsibility:

* Review, triage and assign new losses to unit,

* Monitor claim files and reports to insure adherence to company claim procedures and guidelines.

* Provide guidance on coverage, legal and reserving policies.

* Review, investigate, negotiate and settle designated claim files.

* Provide authorization for reserving and settlement of claims which exceeds the adjuster's authority, within personal authority.

* Make recommendations to Divisional Vice President on open files which exceed personal authority.

* Authorize loss and expense payments for subordinates within personal authority.

* Review and revise as necessary subordinates reports for management or re-insurers and client companies.

* Provide regular direction and controls on pending files within assigned unit

* Conduct audits and diary based reviews as required within guidelines

* Review available management and analytics reports to properly monitor and oversee unit.

* Comply with large loss handling procedures

* Monitor files for proper documentation and investigation of subrogation.


Position Requirements

Technical Competencies:

* Three years claims handling experience.

* Supervisory or training experience is preferred.

* The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong leadership qualities.

* The successful candidate will also have a record of demonstrating and delivering on customer service in a consistent manner while being a strong performer in reference to our metrics.

* Additional qualifications include a high level of initiative, mature judgment and discretion.

* Organization and time management skills are necessary and very important in this role.

* Demonstrated proficiencies in managing a unit through consistent results at or above department standards.

* Demonstrates effective overall performance through consistent evaluations over multiple review periods.

* Demonstrates the capability of consistently handling aggregate file exposures of at least $50,000.

Injury Managers:

* Has thorough knowledge of claims policies and procedures in resolving and/or providing direction to injury claims representatives and/or claim representatives and claim managers for claims handling which could include litigation. Is primary source of direction for area on claim policies and procedures.

* Demonstrates the ability in handling litigation files up to their maximum authority level.

* Demonstrates the ability to interpret research and opinions and apply accurately to establish claims action plans.

* Demonstrates understanding of global company knowledge and impact of decisions.

* Prefer successful completion of one or more of the following for managers handling material damage and/or casualty claims:

* CPCU

* SCLA (Senior Claims Law Associate (to include FCLS (Fraud), PCLS (Property), CCLS (Casualty), and LPCS (Legal Principles)

* AIC (Associate in Claims)

* AIM (Associate in Management)

* Advanced Educational Degree

* Successful completion of Injury Training

* Fraud training

* Advanced Casualty Training (such as BI evaluations and negotiations, litigation management, Good Faith claims handling

Material Damage/Field Claims:

* Demonstrates the ability of evaluating damages up to their maximum authority level.

* Obtains/Maintains appropriate licensing or education requirements.

* Primarily responsible for monitoring licensing or education requirements of their direct report group.

* Has thorough knowledge of claims policies and procedures in resolving and/or providing direction to claims representatives and/or claim representatives and claim managers for claims handling which could include litigation.Is primary source of direction for area on claim policies and procedures.

* Prefer successful completion of one or more of the following for managers handling material damage and/or casualty claims:

* Advanced Material Damage Classand Material Damage Updates

* ICAR Platinum designation

* Successful completion ofAdvanced Vehicle Estimatics

* Successful completion of Chief Structural Damage Analysis

* Successful completion of ChiefAdvancedFrame

* Successful completion of Chief Advanced Steering and Suspension Analysis

* ICAR or other industry related courses or workshops.

* Industry related courses or workshops.

* RV Estimatics, RV Policy, Motorcycle Estimatics, and Motorcycle as dictated by area business needs.

* Other related Insurance Education

* Will lead regional or department projects.

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
