JOB DUTIES:

Under supervision of the Manager, Pathology Outreach Services provides clerical, administrative and special project support to Pathology Outreach Services and the Outreach pathologists. Duties include: Answer incoming calls; respond to service problems, requests for information, supplies, or requests for pathology reports, responsible for all other follow up on calls; return of consult slides, report printing and distribution, supply inventory /ordering and filling client requests for supplies, word processing, coordinating schedules, handling mail, accessioning of consults, collection of billing information for consults, assistance with policy and procedure updates and implementation, maintain and update files, prepare correspondence and spreadsheets, and perform other clerical functions, such as photocopying, and filing.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

2-3 years experience in client relations as it relates to anatomic pathology and clinical laboratory functions, and the terminology involved. Working knowledge of patient insurance plans, accessioning procedures for CareConnect, PowerPath and Meditech preferred. General knowledge of Federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation standards as they relate to an outreach laboratory setting. Ability to troubleshoot, resolve and document errors. Strong written communication skills in the English language including correct grammar, clarity and legibility. Must possess strong initiative, excellent organizational skills and have the ability to work independently, successfully coordinate activities, and problem-solve with other members of the Outreach team. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with department faculty, staff and management, patients, physicians, office staff and other clients of UCLA Pathology Outreach Services.
