Job Description

Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Hotel Housekeeping

Reports To: Executive Housekeeper

Summary Responsible for assuring that all assigned guest rooms and related areas meet all Westin Brand hotel housekeeping standards by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Through a comprehensive inspection process determines readiness of room attendants to move to self-inspection status.

Determines if room attendant with self-inspection status is not meeting standards and must return to non-self-inspection status.

Counsels and disciplines cast members as appropriate.

Assist with maintaining current attendance calendars on all associates.

Provides on-going training and re-enforcement of Westin Brand hotel housekeeping procedures and policies.

Orients new cast members to departmental policies and procedures.

Requisitions supplies & assisting with order supplies.

Creates and maintains an environment that emphasizes self-motivation, teamwork, continuous improvement, and a passion for guest service.

Leads by motivating, demonstrating self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.

Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the assigned hotel guest rooms and related areas.

Submits and follows up on maintenance requests for repairs, painting and furnishings.

Has authority to take a room off the market if it fails to meet guest and Westin standards.

Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the self-inspection process within assigned areas.

Extends professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times. Solicits and acts upon guest feedback.

Plans work schedules based upon the hotel occupancy forecasts and promotional activity to ensure high levels of guest satisfaction coupled with efficient labor utilization

Maintains appropriate supply inventories and ensures that equipment is in acceptable condition.

Interviews, hires, orients, coaches, counsels, disciplines and discharges in accordance with Westin policies.

Evaluates assigned cast members and, where needed, develops appropriate improvement plans.

Undertakes special projects as assigned.

Helps maintain lost and found.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises up to 40 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
