Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Director is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with executive management in supporting business operations. This position supports three companies, 150 employees, and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, payroll, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the company's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance.
Maintains responsibility for company compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
The administration and handling of company benefits, wage and salary programs.
Coordinates with vendors and providers on all employee health and welfare plans, and company 401k plan.
Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters. Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the company.
Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities. - Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisements.
Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
Maintains the human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
2-3 days per quarter.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* A bachelor's degree and seven years+ human resource experience, or a master's degree in human resource management and two years' experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
* SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification preferred
* Must have above average knowledge of Payroll and HR Benefits administration.
* Prior payroll experience required
* Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
* Strong communication skills
