SUMMARY
As a member of the Spiritual Care and health care teams, the Interfaith Staff Chaplain provides for the spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff from all faith traditions and belief systems, and assists patients in understanding more fully lifes events as they relate to their spiritual and overall well-being. The Denominational Staff Chaplain (e.g., Muslim Imam, Catholic Priest, Jewish Rabbi) provides spiritual care to patients and families from his/her particular faith tradition only. Related to the patients life experience, Staff Chaplains may offer prayer or reflection as appropriate in a culturally-competent way, with great sensitivity to the patients religious tradition or belief system, values, culture, and ethnicity.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Spiritual care and support is personalized to each individual to meet his/her unique needs.

* Collaboration with team members is fostered to meet the holistic health care needs of patients.

* Culturally-competency crisis intervention, grief counseling, emotional and spiritual support and guidance are offered to patients, families, and staff.

* End-of -life spiritual support and outreach are provided to both patients and team members.

* Worship services are organized for major holidays of different faith traditions, and Memorial services are offered for deceased employees and patients.

* Interfaith prayer services are organized for special occasions.

* Documentation is recorded in the medical record per established guidelines.

* Standards of Conduct which form the basis of Spauldings Organizational Integrity Program are adhered to in all chaplain activities.

* The Spiritual Care departments mission is promoted and supported.

* Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

* PCC Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence are upheld.
