Summary:

THE MANAGER OF ANALYTICS PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE IMPLEMENTING COVENANT S DATA AND ANALYTICS STRATEGY. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LEADING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEWLY FORMED DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND ANALYTICS, ESTABLISHED TO ACCELERATE THE ORGANIZATION S USE OF DATA IN DRIVING STRATEGIC PRIORITIES, SUCH AS: CLINICAL AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS; OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE, QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY; VALUE-BASED HEALTH CARE; AND POPULATION HEALTH MANAGEMENT. THEY WILL SUPERVISE ASSIGNED AREAS OF OPERATION IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON COVENANT S ELECTRONIC DATA WAREHOUSE, BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE/ANALYTICS APPLICATIONS, REGISTRIES, AND PROJECT DELIVERABLES. THIS WOULD INVOLVE SUPERVISING THE DEVELOPMENT OF DATA GOVERNANCE/DESIGN STANDARDS AND ENSURE ACCURACY/CONSISTENCY IN DATA VISUALIZATION AND HOW IT IS COMMUNICATED TO THE ORGANIZATION AND ITS EXTERNAL PARTNERS (IE FEDERATION, CMS, INSURANCE CARRIERS, ETC.) PARTNERS. HE/SHE IS EXPECTED TO MANAGE TEAM RESOURCES, MONITOR PROJECTS, AND PROMOTE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH ALL STAKEHOLDERS. THIS ROLE REQUIRES A HANDS-ON INDIVIDUAL WITH A BACKGROUND IN ITERATIVE DEVELOPMENT.

THE MANAGER S DIRECT REPORTS WILL INCLUDE DATA ARCHITECTS, DATA INTEGRATION DEVELOPERS, INFORMATICIST, BI ANALYTICS ANALYST, AND REPORT WRITERS. THE MANAGER WILL PROVIDE SUPERVISION OF STAFF INCLUDING HIRING, MENTORING, EVALUATIONS, DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS, PAYROLL, AND SCHEDULING. THE MANAGER IS EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH ADMINISTRATION, PHYSICIANS AND STAFF AND IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE SYSTEMS AND DELIVERABLES MEET ACCREDITATION STANDARDS, ARE COST-CONTAINED, AND PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICE IN AN EXPEDITIOUS MANNER.

THE MANAGER DEMONSTRATES EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE PERFORMANCE SO THAT HIS/HER ATTITUDE AND ACTIONS ARE AT ALL TIMES CONSISTENT WITH THE STANDARDS CONTAINED IN THE VISION, MISSION AND VALUES OF COVENANT HEALTHCARE AND THE COMMITMENT TO EXTRAORDINARY CARE FOR EVERY GENERATION.

THE MANAGER OF ANALYTICS MAY BE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE REMOTE SUPPORT IF NECESSARY.

OUTSTANDING ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION AND VISUAL PRESENTATION SKILLS IS A MUST, WILL DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN PROCEDURES AND OTHER SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION AS REQUIRED. ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE BROAD IN NATURE AND REQUIRE APPRECIABLE ORIGINALITY AND INGENUITY. DIRECTLY REPORTS TO DIRECTOR OF IT WITH DOTTED LINE RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE DIRECTOR OF PATIENT SAFETY AND QUALITY AND THE DIRECTOR OF THE PHYSICIAN HOSPITAL ORGANIZATION (PHO) BUT HAS LATITUDE FOR UN-REVIEWED ACTION OR DECISIONS.



Responsibilities:

* LEAD THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION OF THE ENTERPRISE WIDE ANALYTICS STRATEGY AND THE NEWLY FORMED DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND ANALYTICS.

* PARTNER WITH LEADERSHIP AND FRONTLINE STAFF TO ASSESS CURRENT ANALYTICS CAPABILITIES AND DESIGN IMPROVED METHODOLOGIES.

* PROVIDE ANALYTICS AND REPORTING OF INTERNAL DASHBOARDS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF VARIOUS BUSINESS UNITS.

* COORDINATE WITH CLINICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP, DATA GOVERNANCE, IT, DEPARTMENT DATA EXPERTS, AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO SUPPORT INITIATIVES SUCH AS: DESIGN AND EXECUTION OF ANALYTICS PLATFORMS, ESTABLISHMENT OF MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT PROTOCOLS AND DEFINITIONS TO ENABLE A SINGLE SOURCE OF TRUTH, OPTIMIZATION OF SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE, TOOLS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PROCESSES TO RAPIDLY TRANSLATE DATA TO INSIGHT AND ACTION, IDENTIFICATION, ACQUISITION, AND INTEGRATION OF NEW TYPES OF EXTERNAL DATA (E.G., REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING, PASSIVE DATA COLLECTION, ETC.)

* DATA WAREHOUSE, DATA MARTS, REGISTRIES, DASHBOARDS, SCORECARDS, METRICS, AND REPORTING FOR CLINICAL AND BUSINESS OPERATIONAL NEEDS AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT.

* EVALUATES, SELECTS, AND IMPLEMENTS NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND DEVELOPMENT TOOLS FOR DATA WAREHOUSING, DATA MINING, REPORTING, REGISTRIES, DASHBOARDS, AND APPLICATION DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, TESTING, AND DOCUMENTATION.

* CREATES AND IMPLEMENTS TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR DEVELOPMENT, TESTING, AND DOCUMENTATION, FACILITATES CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS, AND SERVES AS AN EXPERT TECHNICAL RESOURCE FOR IT PROJECTS AND TEAMS THROUGHOUT THE ENTERPRISE.

* DEVELOPS PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE DATA LITERACY ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION.

* WORKS WITH EXTERNAL PARTNERS SUCH AS THE FEDERATION TO REPRESENT COVENANT FOR BI/ANALYTICS INITIATIVES.

* CREATING PROJECT PLANS AND OVERSEEING SCOPE MANAGEMENT PROCESS

* ORGANIZING THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT FOR BOTH CORE AND EXTENDED TEAM MEMBERS

* MONITORING AND REPORTING ON PROJECT STATUS

* MANAGING PROJECT RISKS AND CLIENT EXPECTATIONS

* PROMOTING COMMUNICATION AND COORDINATION AT ALL ORGANIZATION LEVELS

* WORKING WITH BUSINESS AND IT TO IDENTIFY AND OBTAIN RESOURCES TO FULFILL PROJECT STAFFING REQUIREMENTS

* ENSURE THAT MILESTONES ARE MET AND QUALITY DELIVERED.

* MAINTAIN IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF WORKFLOWS, DATA COLLECTION, REPORT DETAILS, AND OTHER TECHNICAL ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE VENDOR S SOFTWARE.

* ENSURES THAT NEW OR MODIFIED FUNCTIONALITY MEETS CUSTOMER SPECIFICATIONS.

* UNDERSTANDS AND TRANSLATES BUSINESS/DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONALITY INTO APPLICATION CONFIGURATIONS AND WORKFLOW VALIDATIONS

* APPROPRIATELY REPRESENTS COVENANT HEALTHCARE BY PROMOTING A POSITIVE IMAGE TO THE PROJECT TEAM, DEPARTMENTS, MEDICAL STAFF, LEADERSHIP AND OUTSIDE CONSTITUENTS

* LISTENS AND RESPONDS TO QUESTIONS/CONCERNS OF CO-WORKERS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION

* IDENTIFIED AND RESOLVES COMPLEX ISSUES. THIS INCLUDES IDENTIFYING APPROPRIATE RESOURCES AND POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS WITH MINIMAL GUIDANCE. MAY DELEGATE SYSTEM ISSUES TO ANALYSTS FOR RESOLUTION. PROVIDES GUIDANCE ON PRIORITY

* KEEPS AN OBJECTIVE FOCUS IN ALL INTERACTIONS

* WORKS WITH OUTSIDE VENDOR AND OTHER REPRESENTATIVES TO ASSURE A SUCCESSFUL BUILD AND INSTALL

* INTERACTS EFFECTIVELY WITH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TEAM REGARDING EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS, APPLICATION PROCESSING PROBLEMS, REQUESTS FOR ENHANCEMENTS, AND TESTING UPDATES

* WORKS WITH STAFF IN ANALYZING WORKFLOWS AND PROCESS TO ASSURE AN OPTIMAL USE OF THE VENDOR S SOFTWARE

* UNDERSTANDS WORKFLOW(S) OF AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY AND THEIR INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS

* DEVELOPS PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES AND UPDATES THEM AS APPROPRIATE IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE SYSTEM

* UTILIZES APPROPRIATE METHODOLOGIES FOR COMMUNICATION, ISSUE TRACKING, SYSTEM, AND PROJECT DOCUMENTATION. EXAMPLES OF APPROPRIATE TOOLS INCLUDE MICROSOFT OFFICE, FOOTPRINTS, AND WRIKE. EXAMPLES OF APPROPRIATE FORUMS INCLUDE PROFESSIONAL LETTERS, CONFERENCE CALLS, PRESENTATIONS, HUDDLES, TEAM AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

* UNDERSTANDS REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE SYSTEM

* COORDINATES SOFTWARE UPDATES/CHANGES WITH END USERS AND OTHER TEAM MEMBERS

* SUPERVISES REVIEW AND VALIDATION OF EACH NEW RELEASE AND COMMUNICATES NEEDED CHANGES TO THE VENDOR BEFORE USERS ARE PERMITTED TO ACCESS THE NEW RELEASE

* ASSIST IN EVALUATING REPLACEMENT AND NEW HARDWARE NEEDS FOR THE IT DEPARTMENT.

* MAY BE REQUIRED TO DEVELOP/ASSISTS WITH TRAINING THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING TOOLS AND TRAINING OF KEY STAFF

* SUPERVISES REVIEWS AND VALIDATES SYSTEM UPDATE AND NEW RELEASE SOFTWARE UTILIZING APPROVED CHS CHANGE MANAGEMENT
