IT Engineer II

Sr. Application Engineer ESM/ESO Reston, This person will be responsible for Engineering Microsoft Infrastructure services (Specifically: Microsoft Exchange 2007, Symantec s Enterprise Vault and Client Accelerator, File Serving, Printing, SMS and SQL Server) Key Job Functions & Duties Determines adherence to Capacity and Availability policies Advice for architectural change based on reports Ensures system health and projections of capacity are being met Determines adherence to security policies Interfaces with other teams (operational and Project) Manages ongoing projects to improve infrastructure manageability, Features, Security updates, and reporting Addresses support issues that cannot be resolved by the Operations team members Monitors re-occurring incidents in Support database and makes design change recommendations to prevent re-occurrence Initiator, and sometimes Owner Provides test matrixes and identifies Pilot groups and servers for Management purposes Conducts follow up after action review with team after changes are implemented and makes recommendations for process, procedure, or infrastructure changes moving forward to the IT manager Identifies industry tools and trends that may provide advantages to current infrastructure Researches, plans and recommends software and systems choices to meet Client s business requirements.
