Job Title: Web/IT Manager Date: 6/2014 Reports to: President FLSA Status: Exempt Summary: Essential functions Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation. Confer with outside or 3rd party systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements. Consult with customers about software system design and maintenance. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met. Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration. Determine system performance standards. Train users to use new or modified equipment. Design, build, or maintain web sites, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media. Perform or direct web site updates. Write, design, or edit web page content, or direct others producing content. Confer with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, or choose solutions. Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems. Maintain understanding of current web technologies or programming practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, or groups. Analyze user needs to determine technical requirements. Develop or validate test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types. Develop databases that support web applications and web sites. Collaborate with management or users to develop e-commerce strategies and to integrate these strategies with web sites. Write supporting code for web applications or web sites. Communicate with network personnel or web site hosting agencies to address hardware or software issues affecting web sites. System Skills Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system. Resource Management Skills Managing one's own time and the time of others if applicable over time. Determining how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures. Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work. Desktop Computer Skills Databases - Using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information. Graphics - Working with pictures in graphics programs or other applications, including creating simple graphics, manipulating the appearance, and inserting graphics into other programs. Internet - Using a computer application to create, manipulate, edit, and show virtual slide presentations. Navigation - Using scroll bars, a mouse, and dialog boxes to work within the computer's operating system. Being able to access and switch between applications and files of interest. Presentations - Navigating the Internet to find information, including the ability to open and configure standard browsers; use searches, hypertext references, and transfer protocols; and send and retrieve electronic mail (e-mail). Spreadsheets - Using a computer application to enter, manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs. Word Processing - Using a computer application to type text, insert pictures, format, edit, print, save, and retrieve word processing documents Education/Experience Experience at conceiving, developing and implementing software solutions Travel industry and SEO experience a plus. Experience as a CIO is a plus Experience with security, back-up, CRM and working with 3rd vendors.
