Job Description

Overview: The Project Accountant on the Information Technology Governance, Risk and Compliance team will provide support to Information Technology on the accounting, reporting and analysis of Technology projects. The Project Accountant will be required to develop financial models and analyze and interpret financial information as it pertains to Technology projects. The individual will be responsible to identify, track, analyze and report on Technology project costs to ensure the appropriate treatments are applied to those costs. This position will work closely with project managers, Accounting and Finance. Key Responsibilities Provide analytic support to Information Technology regarding Technology projects.Gain an understanding of Technology projects and associated costs.Identify, track, analyze and report on all financial aspects of Technology projects including, but not limited to chargeable time, project cost, cost allocation, standard pricing, forecasting, variance reporting.Draw from multiple data sources to identify, track, analyze and report on all financial aspects of Technology projects.Perform special projects as needed.Collaborate with project managers, Finance and Technology and communicate the financial status of Technology projects. Prepare monthly reports for project managers, business units and Information Technology. Must adhere to pertinent laws, regulations, First Niagara’s Compliance Policy and external compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration. Minimum of 4 years experience in project accounting or cost accounting.Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate and work with individuals at all levels throughout the organization. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Ability to multi task and set priorities appropriately.Strong expertise with Microsoft products including Excel, Access and SharePoint. Experience in cost and project accounting within a Technology environment.
