Job Summary

SUMMARY:

Provides secretarial skills and knowledge to support operational activities in imaging department. Coordinates patient schedule. Assures excellent customer service for each patient, from scheduling, through registration, insurance verification, and billing, to post exam activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs a variety of routine-to-complex clerical tasks, including management of patient medical information, physician orders, registration packets, requisitions, and imaging protocols. Creates or revises electronic documents; maintains files.

2. Enters clinical and operational data into various database systems with a high level of thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness. Accurately generates imaging bill for each performed exam or treatment as directed.

3. Exhibits sufficient knowledge and response to each patient account as related to scheduling, admissions/registration, medical records, coding, billing, collections, insurance clearance, and post exam activities (ex: billing audits, unreported exams).

4. Applies all safety measures continuously while supporting, assisting, or providing various patient care services. Monitors area for safety compliance, corrects minor safety hazards, and reports accidents promptly.

5. Uses excellent communication skills (vocal, verbal, written) to facilitate providing the highest quality service during every patient, physician, guest, employee, or other encounter. Performs effective patient confirmation calls, as appropriate. Responsibly communicates information concerning patients to department physicians and staff, and others, as necessary.

6. Coordinates patient flow as directed with consistency, timeliness, and expert skill while meeting appropriate priority standards. Manages daily add-ons, reschedules, and cancellations.

7. Detects and reports deficiencies and participates in ongoing performance improvement. Maintains accreditation readiness.

8. Demonstrates behaviors of The Methodist Hospital`s ICARE values, ServicePride standards, and Shared Governance team culture at all times.

9. Inventories, orders, and manages department supplies.

10. Maintains appropriate levels of inservices. Is familiar with, and adheres to, hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

11. Other duties as requested.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

* High School Diploma; Associates Degree Preferred.



EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum of 2 years clerical experience in a medical environment.
