JOB DESCRIPTION

The Industrial Security Specialist assists the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in the establishment, implementation, and enforcement of all security procedures and programs required for the safeguarding, handling, marking, and control of classified materials. This position serves as a source of expertise on security and government clearances related to government contracting and classified contracts for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other required special access programs requiring security clearances. The Industrial Security Specialist will also assist in administering other special security projects, programs and functions, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists with the development and implementation of security policies and procedures in coordination with government agencies and corporate management. Helps to assure compliance with applicable laws, government regulations, customer requirements and company policies.

Provides personnel security support in accordance with the NISPOM and other applicable government security directives associated with government contractor security compliance programs.

Assists the recruiting department with verifying clearances for potential candidates. Ensures pre-employment clearance actions (when needed) are in compliance with the NISPOM.

Processes incoming employees for the CNI Security program to include (but not limited to) verification of U.S. Citizenship, initiating personnel security clearances, and fingerprints, when necessary.

Processes terminating employees for the CNI Security program to include (but not limited to) conducting exit interviews and debriefings.

Coordinates / conducts initial security briefings with cleared employees prior to their access to classified information.

Coordinates / conducts annual refresher security briefings.

Monitors and maintains accurate employee access records in the DoD Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS). Utilizes JPAS and other special access sites to track and maintain clearances.

Prepares and submits Visit Access Authorizations.

Maintains CNI personnel security files.

Initiates initial security clearances and periodic reinvestigations.

May provide guidance and instruction to employees to ensure completion of security paperwork. Reviews security paperwork for accuracy, completion and submission via eQIP and other methods.

Reviews U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIPs).

Works with government security managers and Contracting Officers, as needed. Works with subcontractor FSOs and Security Specialists.

May assist with end-of-day security checks for safeguarding locations.

Prepares DD Form 254, as needed, for classified contract compliance.

May help with security violation investigations and the completion of incident reports.

May assist with the preparation of necessary paperwork in support of U.S. Government investigations.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree and a minimum of three (3) years relevant security administration in the U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence or contractor community, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Must possess demonstrated experience working with the DSS and standard U.S. Government security systems (i.e., JPAS, e-QIP, ISFD, SWFT, etc.), as well as experience performing NISP Contractor Self-Inspections. Industrial security training through CDSE preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance or higher required
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret Security Clearance required

Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and or boards of directors.

MATHMETICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
