The Industry Leader for Merkle's Media and Entertainment vertical is a key member of Merkle's senior leadership team and reports into the Global Head of Vertical Markets and Strategic Accounts. The Industry Leader is charged with developing and growing Merkle's business in the Media and Entertainment industries, building strong, industry experienced teams, and driving evolution in both our clients and the marketplace. The Industry Leader leads teams within a matrix environment, driving revenue growth for the industry, and managing the P&L for the portfolio of Strategic Accounts in the vertical. The Industry Leader is expected to have a diverse set of skills in order to drive the business. These leaders are entrepreneurial and like to build rather than maintain businesses but are also able to be a team player.
The Industry Leader will align Merkle's broad value proposition to the specific opportunities and challenges of the Media and Entertainment industries. This will require working closely with Client Partners within the vertical, our industry strategy team, and all Merkle capability groups.
Strategic Accounts: Leading a team of Client Partners and account teams to service, evolve and grow the portfolio of our largest clients in the vertical. The Industry Leader is responsible for the P&L for these accounts. Our Strategic Accounts represent our largest 50 clients and about 2/3 of Merkle's revenues.
Business Development: Leading business development with responsibility for proactively growing existing client business and developing new business opportunities. The successful candidate will have experience developing new business and key relationships at the most senior levels of Merkle's Clients.
Business Acumen: Understands how to effectively managing a P&L. Experienced with forecasting growth and able to deliver on financial commitments.
Ability to hire/keep A-players: Understands the importance of leading, hiring and keeping A-players and believes that doing so is as important as landing a million dollar account. Helps to source, select and sell A-players on joining Merkle. Keenly focused on engaging and keeping existing A-players.
Strategic Counsel: has significant senior/executive level marketing experience leading client engagements and providing strategic counsel to growing multi-national clients.
Driving Execution: Can translate goals into operational reality. Breaks down strategic priorities or business initiatives into key tasks and identifies accountabilities. Aligns resources to ensure effective implementation and delivery of required results.
Strategic thinking/visioning: Understands the challenges faced by customers and can develop and deliver unique CRM strategies to help address them.
Creativity/Innovation: Stays ahead of industry trends. Constantly looking for new solutions to customers' challenges. Aware of innovations occurring across Merkle and finds ways to leverage them for the specific vertical practice.
Thought Leader: Positioning Merkle as a "thought leader" in data driven marketing/CRM and accomplishes that by forming and advocating a strong point of view. Takes advantage of opportunities to share that point of view in articles and at conferences and encourages the team to do so as well.
Publish a well-defined long term vision and value proposition for services needed to support the growth and evolution of the Media and Entertainment vertical and the needs of clients and prospects.
Meet agreed to revenue, profit, NPS and geographic expansion goals.
Oversee and lead Client Partners and account teams for all strategic accounts within your vertical include robust account planning supporting growth goals, client satisfaction and delivery of services.
Actively engage the market directly and through your teams to define a thought leadership position for Merkle in the vertical.
Plan and oversee successful industry events that promote Merkle within your industry.
Coach and lead the professional development of all resources within your vertical team by participating in all requirements of our Merkle University certification courses.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Business Builder-is an experienced business builder. The Industry Leader is skilled at leading business development efforts and managing a P&L to deliver on growth and profit goals. In addition to bottom line business growth, we expect this individual to build and lead a team that can exceed expectations and deliver on our client commitments.
Client Management - is highly proficient at large scale client management with global responsibilities. This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients while demonstrating an understanding of their unique business needs.
Vertical Expertise- will have a strong point of view on the challenges and opportunities being faced within the Media and Entertainment industries. This person is adept at creating a value proposition where CRM can meet those opportunities.
Data driven marketing experience- should have a reputation as an industry influencer and driver. They should be someone who has a strong point of view on data driven marketing strategy and shares this viewpoint through articles, blogs and speaking engagements.
_15+ YEARS' EXPERIENCE IN THE MEDIA INDUSTRY WITH HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN CONTENT, AD PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, SALES, AND MARKETING. SPECIFICALLY, DEEP INDUSTRY-SIDE EXPERIENCE WITH LINEAR, VOD, AND ADDRESSABLE TV AS WELL AS PROGRAMMATIC DIGITAL MEDIA (DISPLAY, VIDEO, SOCIAL)_
_EXPERTISE IN SUPPLY-SIDE PROGRAMMATIC AND AUDIENCE-BASED ADVERTISING PRACTICES, TECHNOLOGIES, DATA, AND MEASUREMENT_
_DEEP EXPERTISE IN THE USE OF DATA, ANALYTICS, AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE CREATION OF NEW DATA DRIVEN ADVERTISING PRODUCTS_
