Job Description:



* To perform surveillance for hospital-acquired infections on assigned patient care units. Assist in direction of infection prevention and control program.


* Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN required OR Medical Technologist with either MT(ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) and Bachelor Degree in Microbiology. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred but required within 3 years of hiring date.


* Valid NJ RN licensure OR Bachelor Degree from an accredited Microbiology program. Basic course in Infection Control through APIC preferred but will be required after hire date. Substantial communication skills (oral, written, presentation), and good interaction skills with all members of the health care team, patients and family members. Intermediate to advanced computer skills required. Knowledge base of Microsoft office, data entry and analysis. Organization and critical thinking skills, problem-solving, time-management, prioritization, planning and clinical reasoning. Ability to perform duties and responsibilities assigned consistently with limited direction in planning and organizing work. Good judgment skills in response to sudden changes, circumstances and problems. Ability to work cooperatively within the health system and with a variety of personnel. Ability to adapt to and manage a constantly changing environment.
