OUR CLIENT IS SEEKING AN INFORMATION ANALYST FOR A FTE OPPORTUNITY LOCATED IN BALTIMORE, MD.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reports to the Technical Project Administrator, Health Information Management and the Director/Assistant Director of Regulatory Finance Informatics of the Casemix Information Management Department. Under supervision, will execute SQL and other operating system commands to acquire and transform data. Generates routine reports and analyses as directed by the Department. Researches and analyzes problems identified by Administrator and Director, proposes corrective action, and provides documentation of results and follow up.

COMPETENCIES:

A. _Education:_

Requires a professional level of knowledge in management information systems, business, health care administration, or a related field as acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree. Experience beyond the work experience may be substituted for the degree on 2 years of experience for 1 year of education basis (i.e. 8 years).

B. _Knowledge:_

Knowledge of project and information management.

Knowledge of and experience with SQL programming and the following Microsoft applications: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Internet Explorer.

Familiarity with website development.

Work requires an understanding of CPC methodology, APRDRGs, and ICD-9. Will train on the job, but applicant must acquire knowledge within 2 years of hire.

C. _Skills:_

Requires analytical ability and computer skills, including database development and management, statistical and graphical analyses.

Demonstrates analytic, planning, and organizational skills needed to manage multiple projects or responsibilities.

Ability to exercise sound judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information and situations.

Must be able to document daily work functions and train others as needed.

Strong oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with diverse groups of people, exchange information, and produce written correspondence.

E. _Work Experience:_

At least one year of experience in a professional environment where the required knowledge base and skills have been utilized.

F. _Machines, Tools, Equipment:_

Advanced computer skills and the ability to operate audiovisual, general, and office equipment.

A. _Budget Responsibility:_ None.

B. _Authority/Decision Making Level:_ All work must be approved by Administrator, Director, or project manager.

C. _Supervisory Responsibility:_ None.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Analytical ability is required in order to complete tasks assigned, gather and interpret data from different sources, and resolve problems.

Researches and recommends changes to reduce costs and maximize productivity.

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:

Must be able to create queries, write reports, and produce graphs and trends as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to work with people, function as a member of a team, and perform research in various locations.

Works in a normal office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust, etc.

Work frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue due to the need to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
