JOB DESCRIPTION

APPLY
Greets visitors and staff in hospital lobbies. Directs patients and visitors to medical and business appointments and services. Proactively provides assistance and responds to all requests for support in a pleasant, courteous, timely and compassionate manner. Communicates articulately, acknowledges and maintains eye contact, listens carefully. Answers telephone, providing information and directions to callers. Explains parking and shuttle transportation procedures. Provides information about Boston area services. May occasionally collect parking payments, issue receipts, and permits.

Utilizes computerized information systems to access patient and employee information. Helps collect data and prepare statistical reports.

Knows and can provide directions to all buildings and key hospital locations on the main campus. Knows and can provide directions to MGH off-site locations, including health centers. Makes note of office location and clinical area moves, and supports Communications Department with changes and updates.

Works with Entrance Ambassadors in providing seamless arrivals for patients. Assists with patient discharge and escort services. Arranges wheelchair, transportation and escort services. Escorts patients in wheelchairs. Supervises volunteers assigned to information desks.

Maintains neat, welcoming and functional information desk area. Helps monitor area activity, refers unusual situations to security, reports any unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.

Receives small packages and envelopes at Main Information Desk for quick pick up by hospital staff, maintains log.

Assist with special projects.


QUALIFICATIONS:

College level education strongly desired
1-2 years strong customer service experience
Experience in healthcare setting desirable
Computer skills
Conversational language skills in a second language preferred
Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm
