Job Description:Provide engineering, design, measurement, experimental characterization and oversight for IR missile seeker exploitation and characterization. Duties will involve test and measurement of IR missile seeker performance against potential targets and their susceptibility and response to the effects of Infrared Countermeasures. Position will require characterization of several different types test seekers and their response to countermeasures in both a static and dynamic laboratory test environment. Prefer candidates possessing familiarity with IR missile seeker types, seeker operational dynamics, clutter and background effects, background scene generation, and countermeasure effects in static and dynamic environments. Position will involve work in a dynamic laboratory environment, data collection and analysis, familiarity with target/threat interaction dynamics, and analysis of seeker susceptibility to countermeasures. Familiarity with scenes, backgrounds, clutter and operation of sensors within these environments. Good working knowledge of basic UV and IR spectroscopy including spectral analysis of signals, characterization of signal-to-background, signal-to-clutter, and signal-to-noise ratios. Experience with MATLAB and Simulink required; Linux and Mathcad a plus. Ability to plan, construct, and execute experiments and analyze collected data against theoretical and idealized predicted performance. Qualifications:· Bachelors degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics · 5+ years of experience engineering, design, measurement of optical counter measure systems· 5+ years of experience with characterization of IR countermeasure systems· Knowledge of IRCM, infrared seekers, threat warning sensors, and scene generation.· Experience in the design and development of guidance control loops, filtering automatic gain control, track loop processing, target identification/discrimination and gimbal-servo loop control· Experience in the design and development of digital signal processing techniques· Familiarity with ZEMAX (minimum), MODTRAN, Code IV optical simulation and modeling tools, Scene Generation and Image Processing· Familiarity with mathematical analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and/or C++ · Hands on experience/familiarity with laboratory optical bench optics, electronics, optoelectronic, spectrum & network analyzers, save safe use of lasers and the ability to design and carry out laser-based optical experiments· Participate in working groups, peer reviews, laboratory, and field test events where required· Configure laboratory experiments and perform data collection and analysis of seekers and countermeasures· Identify engineering interface requirements and develop associated Interface Control Documents for seeker/countermeasure systems· Identify technology, techniques, methodology, software for capability development.· Identify and recommend improvements and/or alternative applications for prototype and operational systems that are compatible with existing hardware. · Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, execution of technical reviews, and verification and validation testing.· Knowledge of IRCM, infrared seekers, threat warning sensors, and scene generation.
