We have partnered with a large Health Insurance company in the Philadelphia, PA area to provide them with an Infrastructure Technical Architect.

Description:

Responsibilities:
The Infrastructure Technical Architect is responsible for working with business, functional and technical teams to define, document, educate and support the implementation of solutions to meet business objectives. He/She will work throughout the design and implementation phases of project development lifecycle, to ensure that the overall composition of the solution meets the goals of the architecture team. This position reports to the Chief Architect and may not have any direct reports.

Principal Accountabilities:

* Lead the development of the physical architecture and design of projects.
* Define the application and technical architecture structure, ensuring that it meets the business requirements and performance goals and that the technical direction is consistent with the client's long-term direction.
* Work with other architects to ensure that the products and components work together to meet the objectives and performance goals as defined in the requirements.
* Provide Support for infrastructure projects ensuring alignment with architecture direction.
* Provide leadership and direction to solution development and delivery teams to model solutions to architectural best practices and guidelines as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the architecture to accommodate solution needs.
* Evangelize & help drive ITIL/ITSM initiatives and assure adherence.
* Recommend new or different technologies that will enhance current systems to permit the development of integrated systems that operate at low-cost levels.
* Perform new product or technology evaluations Identify and communicate issues that affect other projects or support teams.
* Support Hardware Asset Management and Inventory Activities.
* Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

Job Specific Competencies:

* Knowledgeable in the design and construction of well-integrated networks, WAN, LAN, transactional, collaborative and analytical systems
* Physical Architecture Modeling experience at the enterprise level.
* Experienced in technical architecture, network design, software defined networking, servers and storage and operations
* Complete understanding of interior and exterior routing and switching protocols, DNS, DHCP, proxy functions (forward and reverse), security protocols (IPSec, SSL, etc.), time protocols (e.g. NTP), tag and label switching, real-time protocols for voice (Skinny, SIP, H.323, MGCP), etc.
* Thorough understanding of WAN communications protocols including MPLS, DWDM, OC carrier, BRI/PRI. UNIX/Linux Operating System, Virtualization platforms including VMware, SDN (Cisco, NSX), Cloud Computing, FC and NAS based storage devices, FC switches.
* Exposure to multiple diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
* Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture.
* Ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives.
* Knowledge of Business process management, workflow and integration methods (SOA).
* Understanding of common information architecture frameworks (such as Zachman).
* Excellent analytical and technical skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
* Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
* Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and Training:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
* Five to seven years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
* Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

Experience:

* Knowledgeable in the design and construction of well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems.
* Physical Architecture Modeling experience at the enterprise level.
* Experienced in technical architecture, network design, software defined networking, servers and storage, and operations.
* Exposure to multiple diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
* 10+ years of hands-on network & telecom experience (in an enterprise environment).
* Expert knowledge of Networking & Telecom platforms:
* Cisco Data Center NetworkTechnologies (ACI and NXOS). SDN (Cisco and /or NSX).
* Checkpoint Firewalls, Websense, and Bluecoat surf control.
* Expert Knowledge of MPLS WANtechnologies.
* Experience working in a fast-paced enterprise production environment.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
* Expert knowledge in supporting applications within the server environment.
* Expert experience / knowledge of VMWare ESX / ESXi / Virtual Center Infrastructure from a networking perspective.
* Strong ability to organize tasks and determine priorities.
* Some Experience with Call Center technology (Avaya) is preferred.
* Ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives
