Inside Metalworking Specialist

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: Supports selling MSC?s products with increased focus on metalworking products in accordance with MSC?s culture and customer service standards.

Requirements:
* Supports direct calls from customers and MSC Outside Sales Associates (OSA?s) and Metalworking Specialists. * Answers inbound calls in support of selling MSC?s products with increased focus on metalworking products in accordance with MSC?s culture and customer service standards. * Handles technical metalworking product issues and provides support to branch Inside Sales Associates (ISA?s), Outside Sales Associates (OSA?s), Metalworking OSA?s, and Metalworking Specialists in regards to metalworking opportunities. * Resolves customer product and service issues and provides metalworking product recommendations by providing sales-related solutions utilizing common and alternative sources of information. * Provides metalworking product recommendations by utilizing the most up to date metalworking product and technical services available. * Assists in building branch strategic relationships with our metalworking customers, vendors and the internal product team to produce quotes, expedite orders and source products. * Provides customer service in accordance with MSC standards to insure customer satisfaction, account retention and sales growth. * Resolves customer concerns and communicates solutions to ISS to insure problem resolution. * Builds customer relationships through exceptional levels of service. * Mentors branch ISA?s in resolving customer metalworking issues, identifies branch internal metalworking product training needs and implements training with assistance from the BSM, ISS and MW Specialists. * Fosters the MSC Culture in the branch and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC?s Mission. * Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required. *INDICATES ESSENTIAL DUTIES To perform this job successfully an associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: * A High School Diploma or the equivalent required. * Minimum of 4 years experience in a metalworking environment required in one of the following areas: * Inbound / outbound telesales * Outside sales * Customer service * A minimum of 2 years machine shop experience or a high level of demonstrated metalworking knowledge is required. * Previous metalworking distribution experience is preferred. SKILLS: * Basic arithmetic skills required. * Comprehensive knowledge of metalworking products required in the primary metalworking product categories of indexable carbide cutting tools, abrasives, work holding, carbide and high speed round cutting tools, tool holding and precision measuring tools. * Excellent customer service and sales skills required. * Excellent oral and written communications skills required. * Ability to recommend speed and feed information to customers/manufacturers preferred. * Data entry experience is required. * Basic PC knowledge is required. * Knowledge of MSC?s product offering and the ability to provide technical recommendations based on customer provided data required. * Ability to read blue prints preferred.
