JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Center for the Advancement of Teaching provides faculty development services at Temple University, helping faculty to create learning experiences that improve learning outcomes and encourage student engagement. The Instructional Technology Lab Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operation of the Instructional Technology Lab in the Center for the Advancement of Teaching, where faculty can receive training and one-on-one support on best practices for the use of instructional technology in teaching. The Coordinator will schedule, manage and train student workers, coordinate the overall consultation schedule for the lab, and develop procedures to make the lab run more smoothly. The coordinator will advise the team on ways to promote the lab's services and to improve services available to faculty. The ideal candidate will also assist faculty and teaching assistants, especially through email or over the phone, with the use of instructional technology applications to support their pedagogical goals and student success. Must have experience on Blackboard or very similar learning management systems and be prepared to assist faculty in the best use of this technology. With the team, will participate in usability testing for new and existing applications that include Blackboard building blocks and patches. A willingness and ability to research and learn emerging technologies is necessary. The candidate will communicate clearly and enthusiastically when assisting faculty and coworkers. As a member of a highly active unit and vibrant team, the Coordinator will demonstrate organizational skills, the willingness to take initiative to get things done, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and a team spirit that makes the lab and the center run more efficiently. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with one year directly related experience. Experience with the use of Microsoft applications, Blackboard, or other Course Management systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to effectively communicate and assist people on the use of a variety of instructional technologies.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Ability to manage people and processes.
* Proficient with the use of various computer applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* Ability to quickly learn new technology.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to occasionally work before/after business hours and/or weekends.
* Experience with the use of Web conferencing systems such as WebEx.
* Familiarity with Blogs, Wikis, Discussion Board, and social networking tools.
