Summary of Job Duties
(Note: This summary will be used for keyword search) The International Student Program & Advising Coordinator advises over 3,000 graduate and undergraduate non-immigrant students. Using advanced knowledge and specialized skills, advise students regarding federal regulations, academic, personal financial and acculturation issues; serve as Designated School Official for F-1 students and Alternate Responsible Officer for J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. Supervise 3 FTE staff. The International Student Program & Advising Coordinator is expected to use student development theory to employ student advising and counseling techniques in their work with students to ensure that students can navigate campus life and to overcome challenges of a personal or cross-cultural nature. Such knowledge includes working with students around issues pertaining to mental health such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, stress, culture shock, etc. Develop programs and workshops to meet specific needs of international students with a focus on undergraduate degree students. Maintains up to date knowledge of federal laws, regulations pertaining to international students, assist in the development of campus policies and procedures affecting non-immigrant students, and provide information to students, faculty and staff. Interface with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and State and other government agencies as well as international education groups.

Minimum Requirements
Interpersonal, written and verbal communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, and to interact sensitively with international and multicultural constituencies. Analytical ability to interpret regulations. Excellent cross-cultural communication skills. Experience working in a university or college setting. Requires experience with advance computer information systems. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desirable Requirements
Knowledge of immigration regulations for F and J visa categories. Experience working with fsaAtlas. Experience working with students.
