Job Description

The Holiday Inn KC-SE and CoCo Water Resort is seeking a highly competitive and qualified student to fill an internship with exposure to various departments. Upon successful completion of the all-day site visit, interview process, pre-employment screening the selected student will be placed in a guest service discipline to enhance their collegiate studies.

The Internship runs between March 1st, 2012 through September 15, 2012. We do not offer student housing as part of the internship program but are offering professionaleducational credit and hourly wage for the internship program.

Job Details:

Job TypeHours : Varies, Flexible Shifts are required and intern must be available nights, holidays, weekends, and days at about 20-40 hours per week

Reports to: AdvisorMentor, FOM, GM, AGM & DHR.

Job FunctionsDescription:

* Exemplify leadership skills while providing our guests with an exceptional experience.

* Providing great guest service with general knowledge of events, activities, and operational projectsstandards for the hotel.

* Shadowing management in various areas of the hotel and water resort.

* Learning operational standards for the assigned department and guest service expectations.

* Completion of internship project that supports operational knowledge gained in the role of the intern.

Concentrations of the internship: Guest Services at the Holiday Inn CoCo Key Water Resort including but not limited to providing guest assistance, gain knowledge in an operational setting, understanding in room sales, guest survey impact and gain interpersonal communication skills when dealing with guest interaction in addition to resolving guest issues, greeting and assisting guests, selling rooms, processing work orders, answering the hotel front desk line and directing phone calls.

Interns will learn operational standards for one or more of the following areas:

* Guest Services and Front Office

* Housekeeping and Laundry

* Food and Beverage

* Accounting and Payroll

* Human Resources Management

* Water Resort Operations

* Hotel Operations

* Management Roles and Responsibilities
