Junior Specialist Position: Scientific Computation, Simulation, Software Development.
An immediate opening is available for a specialist position in the group of Dr. Paul J. Atzberger, Department of Mathematics at the University of California Santa Barbara
The project area concerns further development of computational software packages for fluctuating hydrodynamics and performing simulation studies in the area of soft materials and fluidics. Dr. Atzberger's group has interests in approaches that include but are not limited to: fluctuating hydrodynamics, fluid- structure interactions, and reduction analysis. The University of California Santa Barbara provides a rich multidisciplinary
environment for conducting research. This position is funded by a grant from the Department of Energy (DOE) and is currently anticipated to last six to twelve months depending on budgetary approval .
The Job duties are as follows:
Perform mathematical analysis of numerical methods and develop computational implementations in C/C++ for fluctuating hydrodynamic equations. Carry-out simulatin studies for mesoscopic systems using these methods and LAMMPS MD package.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a B.A. or B.S. in Mathematics and or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. In addition a solid background in computational simulation and related programming experience in developing methods (ideally, python, C/C++) and experience with LAMMPS MD software. Also, candidates should have a motivation to develop methods for studying
applications arising in the sciences or engineering.
