JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Psychologist functions as a clinical psychologist under the supervision of the Chief, Section of Psychology or designee in accordance with the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct of the American Psychological Association, guidelines from the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners, and standards set forth by JCAHO. In general, the Psychologist independently diagnoses and treats mental disorders and aspects of psychological adjustment. Specific scope of practice will be articulated in the delineation of privileges as issued in the process of appointment to the medical staff. 1. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a psychologist as prescribed by training and standards and delineated by the medical staff appointment. 2. Conducts diagnostic evaluations, including through the use of psychometric assessment, and interprets findings to staff, families, and other approved agencies. 3. Provides effective, evidence-based psychological interventions. 4. Functions as a consultant and clinician in the department, including the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders and aspects of the psychological adaptation of patients and their families. 5. Completes written reports and psychotherapy notes in a timely fashion. 6. Assists in training and supervision of psychology externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows. 7. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). 8. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. Working Conditions: Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 0 hours a day. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1.
