LEAD JAVA / WebSphere Commerce Developer (70522)

POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION PURPOSE -We are seeking world-class talent looking to build a career with the world's largest home improvement retailer, operating more than 2,200 store locations in the U.S, Canada and Mexico. Specifically, your role in homedepot.com will place you at the center of one of the top 40 retail websites that is experiencing an exciting growth trajectory. You will be exposed to the latest Web technologies including J2EE, WebSphere, and numerous industry-leading Web technologies running at large, enterprise scale. You will work with IT teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as deliver leading-edge online capabilities that also support Home Depot's retail business. You will apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with other core team members to resolve system issues, maintain complex business logic and identify and implement innovative solutions.The Lead Developer has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Developer must have the ability to view packages and products to determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas. MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
Provide status reports to Manager and review boards on complex development projects.
Guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.
Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary. NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance. ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must pass the Drug Test.Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses. EDUCATION REQUIRED -The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED. YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5 PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Min. 6 years of experience in working with Java, J2EE.Min.4 years of experience working in web technologiesExperience working on WebSphere Commerce Server is a MUST and on Endeca is highly desirableExperience in Retail industry is a plus.Understand business, functional and technical requirements of a complex e-commerce architecture and develop production quality code utilizing WebSphere Commerce, Endeca and J2EE technologies.Experience in Retail industry is a plus.Project leadership ability.BS Computer Science or related field.
