Description
It takes a special person to work in hospice and palliative care. This position offers you the opportunity to make a difference when it matters most.


Duties include:

* Providing extended hours of patient care

* Assisting in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of plans of care

* Implementing the hospice nursing plan of care

* Documenting and communicating patient care needs and assessments

* Providing teaching and guidance to patients, families and the community

* Ensuring safe, quality, cost-efficient skilled hospice nursing services

* Participating in the bereavement program

Requirements
Your nursing skills have never been more appreciated! This job requires a person who can work independently, yet never forget that hospice care requires a team effort.


Other requirements include:

* Graduate of an accredited school of practical/vocational nursing

* Current Alabama practical nurse license

* At least 1 year of nursing experience in a geriatric setting

* Ability to cope with the emotional stress of patients and their families

* Willingness to work in home environments of patients who may have values or standards different from your own

* Ability to perform venipuncture

* Ability to turn, lift, carry and otherwise transport patient

* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

* Respecting the patient s privacy and maintaining confidentiality

* Current Alabama driver s license and automobile liability insurance

* CPR Certification
