The Canyon at Peace Park is a private, secluded retreat
in the beautiful hills of Malibu, California. Our
treatment philosophy is simple: specialized,
cutting-edge care, recovery plans tailored to the
individual, a supreme healing environment, and a program
that addresses both substance use and co-occurring
mental health conditions. In a compassionate, fine-tuned
approach, we treat the whole person.
FRN is currently seeking a Nursing Certified Residential
Counselor, dedicated to patient-centered compassionate
care, responsible to assess patient needs, monitor
medications, administer and track TB skin tests, monitor
random drug screens, and provide counseling and milieu
management within the residential environment. The ideal
candidate will have the ability to inspire our patients
confidence in both our staff and the FRN Model of

position is located at Foundations Recovery Network s
facility, The Canyon at Peace Park, in Malibu, CA.
Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Completes assessment of new patients immediately upon
admission, according to level of care procedures
Monitors self-medication process for individuals
living in residential facilities
Provides on-going consumer education (group and
individual) regarding medications
Provides on-going staff training regarding medication
policies and procedures
Implements and monitors procedures for random urine
drug screens to ensure that each individual is
screened as appropriate; completes process to ensure
results are documented in medical file and with the
individual s clinician
Performs responsibilities according to clinical and
timeliness guidelines, and assimilates and applies
performance feedback as directed by management personnel
Meets quality expectations of accuracy, completeness,
and is responsive to feedback
Meets quantity expectations of volume consistent with
peers and relative to time in position
Meets timeliness expectations of completing work as
scheduled, demonstrating self-paced performance and
adjusting priorities as needed
Professionally relates to consumers and peers at all
times
Participates in weekly staff and clinical meetings
Cross-trains and supports other divisions as needed or
requested by supervisor
Self-directed to provide support to colleagues as
workflow allows
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and
in writing
Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of
models and theories of addiction, mental illness, and
related issues
Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies, and
outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse
prevention, and continuing care for dually diagnosed
populations
Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual
conditions and ability to conceptualize modalities and
placement criteria within the continuum of care
Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific
issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and
culturally diverse groups into practice setting
Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize
workload and work independently
If in recovery, must have a minimum of two years
abstinence
Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines
Education / Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
required.
Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
required.
Minimum of one (1) years experience working in a
behavioral health setting required.
Experience with individuals with co-occurring
disorders strongly preferred.
