To undertake all activities involved in nucleic acid analyses of as instructed by supervisor (e.g. collection, curation, extraction, PCR, library prep, sequencing Sanger, NextGen, analyses inc. bioinformatics). Also to participate in all activities related to maintaining a clean, orderly, functioning laboratory (e.g. ordering, reorganization, attending lab meetings, and consultation with supervisor, database management, and record keeping). Perform general laboratory chores (housekeeping duties).
MS in biological sciences with experience in molecular biology.
Experienced in genomic / NextGen molecular laboratory methods and bioinformatics.
Previous experience working in neurobiology, molecular biology and/or genetics lab.
Skill to organize and prioritize a diversified workload with attention to detail and multiple deadlines.
Demonstrated organizational skills for field / lab usage assignments and coordination.
Demonstrated ability to function efficiently and well in a team environment.
Effective interpersonal skills to establish & maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff and students.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate database files.
Demonstrated ability to operate a networked PC in Windows and/or Mac environment.
Perform word processing using Microsoft Word and data entry on PC and/or Mac.
Responsible for maintaining clean and safe work environment and keeping laboratory stocked.
Knowledge of routine maintenance and proper use of laboratory equipment.
