Summary Statement:
The principal function of the Laboratory Micro Technician is to perform microbiological testing on products and raw materials in accordance with procedures outlined in the compendium of microbiological methods. This includes testing products, raw materials, environment, and other samples as needed; entering data into computer systems and reporting results to production and quality. This position reports into the lab supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

* Performs required microbiological tests on finished product, raw materials, and in-process materials used in the manufacture of Kraft products.

* Enters results into computer systems and communicates results by e-mail or reports to appropriate personnel.

* Test city water and RTD water daily for chlorine

* Perform daily lab checks including pH checks of media used

* Preparation of reagents and media

* Perform environmental sampling and testing (air exposures, PEM sampling, compressed air, fingerplates, swabbing etc.)

* Restock microbiological laboratory supplies as needed. Put up new supplies in stock room

* Perform gram stains as needed

* Utilize Excel, SAP, and Quality Suites for data entry, data gathering and reporting.

* Complete Laboratory period cleaning items as required by QA manual

* Label and ship samples to external micro. Labs for required testing.

* Maintain AOAC proficiency testing certification

* Inventory and order micro lab supplies

* Assist in training plant personnel on proper swabbing techniques

* Performs GMP Audits, QCMS Audits, and all other audits as assigned

* Performs swab testing utilizing scissor lift/harness

* Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or Laboratory Supervisor.

Organizational Relationships:
This position has contact with: All Quality personnel Business Unit Managers, Production Supervisors, Production personnel, Product Developers and (R&D) Corporate staff
