JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Laboratory Research Technician will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator to perform research consisting of a variety of technical laboratory experimentation including 3D microfluidics cultures, molecular biology, high content screening for drug response evaluation and flow cytometry. Research is related to the development of novel culture platforms to enable the preservation and analysis of a variety of patient-derived tumors. This position will be working with cell-based and animal models of multiple myeloma and prostate cancer. 1. Responsible for setting up 3D microfluidic cultures using primary tumor cells from patients for drug evaluation which will be performed using flow cytometry and high content screening. 2. Injects tumor cells into murine animal models and will be responsible for tissue harvesting post-tumor challenge for downstream cellular and genomic evaluation. 3. Maintains cell culture of human primary cells and cell lines. 4. Uses molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR, RNA/DNA extraction/preparation, transduction and transfections of cell. Working Conditions: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. B.S. or B.S. / M.S. in Biology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering or related disciplines. 2. Applicants will receive guidance for all aspects of the position, but previous experience in a laboratory, and previous experience with cell culture and rodent research is required. 3. Strong desire to learn research techniques, and an ability to perform on a day-to-day basis without direct supervision. 4. Meticulous record keeping will be essential, in order to ensure the quality of data. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Exposure to High Content Screening is highly desirable for this position. 2. Previous experience with mice (including tissue dissection and/or surgery) strongly preferred. 3. Cell culture and molecular biology techniques 4. Experience with small animal handling, injections, organ and tissue harvesting and processing.
