JOB SUMMARY

The Saha CVRC is seeking a Laboratory Technician Senior whose responsibilities will be to work within a large research group facilitating the upkeep of a mouse colony, maintenance of an organized laboratory, and performance of in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Daily work activities will require animal care, strong observational skills, cellular, biochemical and enzymatic assays including westerns, caspase activity, BCA, Bradford, ELISA, BrdU, RNA extraction and gene analysis by realtime qPCR.

Other duties include organizing, conducting, analyzing and recording experimental data; overseeing student workers; cleaning and maintaining all lab glassware and equipment. Must be able to review laboratory manuals, protocols and techniques making minor modifications as needed.

Review results of experiments for reliability by comparing data obtained from previous experiments. Must be proficient in using Powerpoint, Excel, and sigma plot as well as laboratory specific software (Odyssey, AxioVision).

Proficient and IACUC compliant small animal care; Basic lab skills, (e.g., pipetting); basic computer skills (e.g., MS windows, excel)

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

BA/BS degree in a related field plus 2 years of paid working experience in a research laboratory including mouse husbandry.
