JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Description:
Purpose Of Position This position provides labor assistance to various crews in the Rose Garden and various City properties and traffic islands. Assistance is provided by picking up litter, cleaning equipment, using power equipment, push mowers and using various other hand and power tools to accomplish tasks. Essential Functions Pick up litter.Use hand-held blower.Drive pick-up truck.Plant horticultural materials.Trim plants.Clean areas after work is accomplished.Remove dead plants.Use spin trimmer.Must possess horticultural knowledge of various plants (both annuals and perennials).Ability to perform minor maintenance on equipment.Knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of hand tools and power equipment.Knowledge of traffic and pesticide laws.Knowledge of departmental regulations pertaining to tasks.Ability to identify plants problems.Must be able to communicate with owners, employees and management in person, using telephone or radio.Must be able to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours daily; up to 6 hours a day; lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.; able to climb, stoop, bend, and crouch up to 8 hours a day; reach up to 8 hours daily: handle materials and tools.Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (summer and winter).Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. At least one (1) year of experience in a horticultural or nursery related field and have a broad knowledge of horticulture preferred. A valid \\"Class C\\" Texas Driver's License, with clear driving record.
