Overview: The Lead Laundry Attendant will assist in overseeing all activities and personnel within the laundry department. The Lead Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring that all laundry activities are carried out professionally, to standards and at the highest level of service. The Lead will effectively train, coach, motivate, engage and provide feedback to the laundry staff on a daily basis. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Responsibilities: * Lead the laundry operations and personnel. * Ensure that all laundry pars are met and that laundry levels meet the hotels laundry needs. * Inspect the condition of all linens and determine if the condition meets hotels standards. Discard linens that do not meet standards. * Ensure that the department operates within all hotel, federal and state safety guidelines and that all employees are trained and knowledgeable of all safety requirements. * Inspect work performed and monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. * Ensure that assigned staff have reported to work and report disciplinary problems to manager and participate in the counseling of employees in addition to providing feedback on staff performance to the manager. * Coordinate breaks for assigned staff. Prepare and distribute assignments to staff and review daily priorities. * Communicate additions or changes to assignments as they arise throughout the shift. * Assign desingated personnel to handle any deficiencies. * Encourage staff to keep their workstations tidy and organized * Perform or assist with cleaning and laundry duties as necessary. * Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. * Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order and contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs. * Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and ensure that staff has completed their tasks prior to the end of their shift * Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with manager/supervisor Qualifications: Education & Experience: * High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). * Previous supervisory experience is preferred. * Must have at least 1-year or more of proven related experience. * Previous experience in operating commercial laundry equipment is required. * Excellent verbal communication, public relations and telephone skills. * Proven stable job history, be able to multi-task * Service with a smile! * Ability to maintain confidential information. * Must present a pleasant demeanor/attitude at all times. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills needed. Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. Experience with hotel information systems required. Certificates & Licenses: First aid certification/OSHA Training is preferred, but not required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
