Recently, Rush University Children s Hospital has undergone many exciting changes, including new leadership, operational improvements, expanded research in children s health and growing pediatric specialty services with expanding satellite locations throughout the Chicago area.

In this challenging role, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the experienced cardiac sonographers and top Pediatric Cardiologists.You will be able to perform fetal as well as transthoracic echocardiograms on complex patients with congenital heart disease ranging from pediatrics to adults using state of the art equipment.



POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

*

Independently performs echocardiographic procedures of common congenital heart diseases according to standards set by the Congenital Echocardiography Laboratory.
*

Assists in the Congenital Echocardiography Laboratory s daily operations and the proper maintenance of the physical plant and equipment.
*

Supervises and leads sonographers and trainees, and assists in supervising other personnel in the Congenital Echocardiography Laboratory, while performing daily job duties.
*

The latest state of the art ultrasound equipment manufacture by Philips Healthcare. Digital solution provided by Merge Cardio and Epic



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



*

Independently performs and provides timely preliminary report of findings on patients including fetuses, premature infants, neonates, children, adolescents and adults referred for evaluation of suspected or known congenital and acquired heart disease.
*

Performs echocardiographic procedures of common congenital heart diseases according to standards set by the Congenital Echocardiography Laboratory and obtains accurate data.
*

Obtains image and Doppler information required to define complex congenital heart disorders for patients referred for evaluation of non-corrected anatomy and function and/or evaluation of surgical reconstruction or repair, or placement of prosthetic devices using echocardiographic modalities such as: 2D, Doppler, Speckle tracking Technology, 3D, TDI.

Assists in training hospital residents, fellows, students and technologists as directed.
*

Coordinates sonographer daily activities and facilitates smooth work flow in accordance with set guidelines. Assists in the coordination and participation in Outreach services.
*

Provides assistance, guidance and equipment preparation for TEE & ICE echoes during a variety of interventional procedures or surgeries.
*

Assists with correlation of findings with reported or anticipated results from prior fetal echo studies.
*

Assists in preparation of echocardiography materials for case conferences, CQI meetings, research and educational presentations.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

*

High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of successful college courses required. Associate s degree in cardiac technology or equivalent preferred.
*

Minimum of two or more years of experience in echocardiography of hospital environment required.
*

One year of supervising employee s preferred.
*

RDMS or RDCS certification in pediatric and adult echocardiography required. Registry in fetal echocardiography preferred.
*

Must have pediatric echo experience
*

Experience in fetal echocardiography preferred.
*

CPR certification required.
*

Ability to work independently.
*

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
*

Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology as related to heart and fetal circulation required.
*

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations and environments, and assess and solve problems.
*

Ability to move a portable 550 pound machine throughout the hospital.
*

Ability to take Call as needed.
*

Will cover for Cook County Hospital on a as needed On-Call schedule
