SolarCity is looking for a Lead Roofer who will be a lead technician for SolarCity. S/he will provide leadership and technical expertise for the installation teams.


Communicate the necessary job status data to the SolarCity operations management team to assure the successful operation of complete and working systems
Lead efforts for safe working practices for the SolarCity installation team
Provide technical expertise and craftsmanship to ensure a job is completed appropriately
Train and guide team members on installation techniques
Drive other projects as required or as business needs change


High School Diploma or GED required
Must have a minimum of 2 years roofing experience; including metal, concrete tile, clay tile, comp, shingle, or wood shake
At least 6 months experience leading a roof crew preferred
Strong craftsmanship and carpentry skills
Ability to effectively train team members on new techniques
Must be able to safely lift heavy objects multiple times per day including but not limited to an extension ladder, solar PV panels, and inverters
Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc)
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
Detail-oriented, resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers
Regular, reliable and predictable performance required
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal screen. Additional pre-employment driving and drug screens may be required based on job responsibilities
