POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Schneider-Electric is looking for a Chemical Engineering domain expert that leads the development and implementation of ChemE. unit operation models in an open-equation environment. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for facilitating customer adoption & support, ensuring quality and customer usefulness of deliverables and building/leading a team of other model developers.



RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* BUILD & LEAD A STRONG TEAM OF MODEL AND APPLICATION DEVELOPERS, ENSURING:

* Maximum productivity.

* Optimum effectiveness through training and mentoring

* Comprehensive skill coverage of team members over targeted domains though capability management practices.

* ENSURE THAT THE MODELS/APPLICATIONS DELIVERED TO OUR CUSTOMERS ARE FIT-FOR-PURPOSE BY:

* Understanding and prioritizing customer needs.

* Developing & managing long term and short term capability backlogs.

* Creating Reference Application Examples that are contained in our deliverables.

* Guiding and validating team deliverables.

* VALIDATE CUSTOMER DELIVERIES BY:

* Leading testing dojos (workshops) with corresponding knowledge capture.

* Orchestrating customer trials with corresponding knowledge capture.

* Collecting feedback from technical sales, training, tech support, and end users to improve our delivered model libraries.

* LEAD THE CUSTOMER ADOPTION EFFORT BY:

* Providing in-depth customer support (hand-hold) for early adopters.

* Providing secondary support for customer issues beyond ability of tech support.

* Supporting regional product champions to be successful.

* Supporting projects which may need custom model solutions.

* Develops presentations/demonstrations (with assistance of product management and R&D) to sales personnel and customers that highlight features, benefits, and the application of the model libraries.

* Attends and/or presents at industry conferences such as events held by AIChE, ACS and API and at Schneider-Electric user meetings and seminars.

* Publishes in appropriate industry and technical journals.

* Positions Schneider-Electric and its products as the industry leader.

* MODEL WRITING & LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT:

* Participates in defining the technical requirements for chemical process equipment modeling in an open equation environment,

* Plays the lead role in the development of various chemical process equipment libraries.

* Creates documented test results of chemical engineering model libraries to demonstrate that they are appropriate and fit for purpose.

* Writes or supervises writing the documentation of model libraries.

* Writes or reviews software model writing tools documentation, training material, and training exercises.

* Maintains a model library version control and history.

* Uses lean agile principles to manage development work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Extensive knowledge of the use of mathematical modeling in the refining, petrochemical, chemical, and upstream industries.

* Understanding of chemical engineering equipment including but not limited to distillation, reactions, multi-phase flow, heat transfer, rotating equipment, crude characterization, and controls for steady state and dynamic simulation.

* Comprehensive knowledge of SimSci or competitive process engineering simulation software.

* Excellent written, verbal presentation and graphical communication skills with great depth of experience of collateral development, formal documentation, presentation development and delivery.

* Ability to balance practical versus theoretical solutions and the knowledge to apply practical solutions when required.

* Communicates clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences with the ability to be succinct and concise.

* Willing to travel around to world to participate in user conferences, visit customers, and visit development centers in Europe, Japan, and India.

* Experience working in a Lean / Agile development process.

* Minimum of a B.S in Chemical Engineering with a higher degree strongly preferred.

* Programming skills desired, in C# or C is preferable

* Willing to relocate to Orange County, CA or spend a significant time in our Lake Forest facility each month to work with fellow product managers and other thermodynamic specialists.
