Education: Minimum MA or MS in a related field
Experience: Candidate shall have a technical background and the ability to understand basic ballistic missile systems. Experience with Lethality Assessments, Hit Assessment/Kill Assessment, and Consequences of Engagement/Consequence Management is preferred. A candidate with current Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) experience is a plus.
Responsibilities and Requirements: The Lethality Engineer candidate will assist with maintaining, updating and managing the BMDS Lethality Program Plan. The candidate will assess lethality requirements, including phenomenology studies. The candidate will assess engineering change packages for lethality; support development, review, and coordination of the BMDS Capability Needs Documents (CNDs); and develop technical documentation plans for lethality. The candidate will engage in analysis of integrated capabilities and assist with supporting new concepts. The candidate will provide analysis on Lethality, Hit Assessments/Kill Assessments (HA/KA), and Collateral Effects and Consequence Management (CECM) technology development test planning and execution. The candidate will prepare technical and position papers, engineering briefs, and technical materials such as analysis, assessments, and reports. The candidate will utilize skills and experience to schedule meetings, provide meeting minutes, service action items and brief leadership. The candidate will provide support including the development of tasks, coordinating tasks, and tracking tasks to completion. The candidate must have the technical ability to review and produce Lethality Engineering documents. Regular and valuable interaction with the customer will include; emails, VTC and face-to-face meetings, status updates, TIMs, briefings and other contractual requirements. The candidate must be self-motivated, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, technically advanced, team environment.
Highly Desirable Skills: Experience with current Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) characteristics, design, and performance. Experience with Threat and Lethality programs. Experience with Windows-based PC software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Location: Huntsville, AL (Redstone Arsenal)
Clearance Requirements: Eligibility for, or an Active DoD Secret clearance is mandatory.
Travel: Up to 5% of time.
