ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
¿ Performs disassembly, sanitization verification, re-assembly, set up, daily start up, tuning and repair of filling, labeling and packaging machinery in accordance with production requirements.
¿ Ensures proper operation of machinery and perform changeovers efficiently and accurately.
¿ Operates production equipment as needed and orient/train production personnel on proper operation of production equipment including, but not limited to: sampling and testing of fill weights, coding, torque and any necessary functional tests such as proper seals, dispensing, etc.
¿ Responsible for Material Productivity, MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and meeting all defined production/quality standards related to, safety, quality cost and service.
¿ Performs and leads routine preventive maintenance for all filling, labeling and packaging equipment to ensure equipment is performing at optimum levels.
¿ Follows safety precautions to prevent product contamination and injury to self and others.
¿ Interacts with Engineering and Maintenance personnel to expedite solutions to mechanical problems.
¿ Conducts root cause analysis during troubleshooting activities by analyzing the issue, defining the solution, instating counter measures to ensure resolution, setting controls for monitoring; and documenting work accordingly.
¿ Improves production performance by simplifying work processes according to defined scope and span of control. This may include creation of One-point lessons for knowledge enhancement and skill development.
¿ Partners with Production Coordinator to review/record/monitor downtime sheets, forms, checklists, and log books to ensure proper documentation in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
¿ Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for his position.
¿ Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required; technical school certificate in industrial maintenance, engineering or related field is desirable.
¿ Must have technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude to perform set up, daily start up, tuning, minor repair of filling, labeling and packaging machinery that is typically acquired through 3-5 years of experience in a production maintenance shop of a manufacturing facility and as demonstrated by passing written technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude test. Must demonstrate competencies established for this level, including use of hand and power tools, ability to use maintenance manuals and knowledge of basic electrical and pneumatic equipment.
¿ Ability to read, understand and assist in the creation of a variety of job related instructions and documents; perform practical application of mathematical calculations to solve specific problems.
¿ Must be able to visually inspect component parts for compliance with quality standards; check day codes and other required coding; check product labeling; and match product with the appropriate carton.
