Job Description

Job Description: This position assists the Logistics Manager with operational activities in a distribution center environment. Responsibilities include operational excellence and process improvement; ensuring customer expectations are exceeded; and talent acquisition, development, and retention of associates. Responsibilities include: Leadership/Teamwork -Develop, train and motivate hourly warehouse and delivery employees under your direction -Administer corrective action when appropriate -Demonstrate high levels of durability -Possess excellent follow up skills through assignment completion -Proven high-level contributions in a warehouse/distribution environment (high quality and quantity of work) -Promote teamwork and resolve labor issues in a timely manner -Work with your peers and employees toward the location s goals and realize the big picture -Manage/Supervise hourly personnel in all operations of the business (i.e. Inbound, Outbound, Inspection,Quality, Inventory, Claims, Shipping, Receiving, Traffic) - Support and participate in all Six Sigma and Quality initiatives -Ensure all Company policies and procedures are enforced -Ensure adherence to all relevant DOT and OSHA regulations, including maintaining appropriate documentation -Demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills -Support and back fill teammates when they are on vacation or out of the building Quality -Champion & support all local and corporate quality initiatives -Direct responsibility for defective reductions -Lead a team of hourly employees fostering an environment of Continuous Improvement -Deliver continuous improvement in your area of responsibility Health, Safety and Housekeeping -Support a healthy and safe work environment by communicating unsafe conditions immediately -Ensure that all employees follow safe work practices at all times -Complete Area Safety Checklists in a timely manner -Ensure that all Safety Talks are done and documented once a week -Support and participate in OSHA programs -Maintain a safe and clean work environment Administrative/Communication -Complete all administrative duties in a timely manner -Ensure that all employees (direct reports) are accurately paid on a weekly basis -Perform assigned tasks in a timely manner -Communicate and respond to e-mails on a timely basis -Handle corrective actions when necessary and in a timely manner -Proven leadership/supervisory skills -Proven high level contribution directly correlated to warehouse/distribution operations -High levels of integrity -High levels of durability and strength -Ability to challenge inefficiencies -Excellent planning and organizational skills -Excellent problem analysis and decision making skills -Excellent oral (public speaking) and written communication skills -High levels of motivation -High level of dependability Job Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS - -Experience in distribution/logistics management -Supervising associates in a WMS/RF Scanning environment is required -Lumber experience and experience managing a unionized workforce preferred. -Previous supervisory/team lead experience -Ability to use computer systems and apply computer systems knowledge to manage day to day operations -Bachelor's Degree -Experience working in a union environment a plus -Bi-lingual a plus(English/Spanish) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - -Effective listening and concise communication skills at all levels of the organization - written and verbal. -Ability to understand and develop business strategy and convert to tactical application. -Demonstrate Leadership Qualities that mimics a high level
