Title: Long-Term Disability Claims Case ManagerLocation: US-NH-DoverOther Locations:Advance your career at Liberty Mutual - A Fortune 100 Company!Our Long-Term Disability Claims Case Managers are responsible for reviewing, investigating and making liability determinations for an assigned caseload of long-term disability claims. The role is responsible for interpreting and applying appropriate contract terms/provisions, ERISA, statutory legal guidelines, and case management procedures to each claim.This role requires extensive interaction with claimants, policyholders, attorneys and other relevant third parties throughout the duration of the claim. As well as the requisite technical skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to multi-task, diffuse conflict diplomatically, embrace change and introduce creative and innovative ideas to more efficiently and effectively manage claims.Responsibilities:* Manage an inventory of complex claims with diverse medical conditions, while using internal resources to evaluate eligibility and future liability* Articulate, verbally and in writing, the rationale for eligibility determinations with claimants and employers, and ongoing expectations throughout the claim duration* Establish and follow through on action plans based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues and available resources* Evaluate and refer appropriate claims to risk management resources such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Managed Care, Fraud, and Social Security* Negotiate settlement within authority limits; escalate to team manager as appropriateQualifications:* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least two years' of disability or workers' compensation experience* Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and negotiation skills in the evaluation and resolution of claims* Effective written and verbal communication skills to provide information clearly, concisely and diplomatically to a variety of audiences/individuals* Demonstrated ability to remain calm in tense or time-bound situations* Sound analytical and problem-solving skills for gathering information, analyzing facts and making recommendations* Demonstrated ability to independently manage a caseload through effective time management and awareness of priorities* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPointBenefits:We recognize that talented people are attracted to companies that provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits packages and outstanding advancement opportunities.
