This career opportunity provides new-to-insurance industry professionals with a program that is a structured, comprehensive 9-12 month training program that involves on the job training, classroom training, mentoring, and self-study. This structure allows candidates to build a strong foundation to begin their loss control career.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the completion of curriculum as well as becoming a contributing member of the Loss Control team.- With oversight, the trainee begins small account underwriting surveys, focuses on technical/skill development related to loss control such as codes and standards.- Supports the Loss Control team by:
collecting data, preparing files and file supplements, and other technical assistance to their mentor.- Delivers timely and concise underwriting surveys to mentor and is able to provide logic/rationale around completed reports.- Problem solver with solutions to exposures or loss problems.- Demonstrates understanding of loss control standards and trends related to commercial lines of business.- Actively looks for opportunities to assist teammates.- Able to begin managing assigned surveys shortly after training.- Work assignment of increasing complexity within first 12 monthsPosition RequirementsRequirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a GPA 3.0 or higher in Risk Management, Health and Safety, Engineering Technology, Sciences or a similar related degree- Legal right to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship- Ability to relocate within the region at the conclusion of the training period- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and the Internet- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical, problem solving and math skills- Strong organizational and time management skills- Ability to effectively assess risk and return- Strong decision making and customer service skills- Ability to explore multiple alternatives and make business recommendationsRecognized as one of America's Best Employers by Forbes, The Hanover is proud to be among the top property and casualty insurers in the United States.
