POSITION SUMMARY: This role is critical to achieving Plant OEE and Equipment Availability goals of eliminating of equipment failures by providing scheduled lubrication in the proper proportions. This is an entry-level position in the Maintenance Mechanic job series. While in the position, job incumbents are expected to significantly upgrade their job skills and knowledge by participating in company-sponsored training and certification programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

MUST COMPLY WITH COMPANY, STATE AND GOVERNMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS AT ALL TIMES.

MUST BE AWARE AND RESPONSIVE TO LUBRICANT SPILLS AT ALL TIMES.

MUST SUPPLY LUBRICANTS TO ALL DESIGNATED POINTS ON ALL PIECES OF EQUIPMENT. (AS PER CHECKLIST)

* Must participate in the work order initiation process when required.

* Must ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from Stores as per CLC procedures.

* Must possess a good knowledge of lubricants and their uses.

* Must be capable of checking oil levels on all plant equipment on a regularly scheduled basis.

* Must be capable of servicing and repairing all automatic lubrication systems (grease or gear spray).

* Must have the required pipe fitting skills to service, repair and upgrade all lubrication systems.

* Must be capable of learning to rebuild all types of lubricating pumps.

* Must be capable of aligning pumps to motors.

* Must be capable of monitoring inventory levels of lubrication supplies.

* Should have a good understanding of Oil Analysis.

* Must be capable of servicing all types of plant air compressors.

* Must keep air compressor rooms clean so as to meet good housekeeping standards.

* Ensures maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary.

* Must possess and maintain a complete set of personal hand tools as per the CLC tool list.

* Must be qualified to weld in flat, vertical and horizontal positions.

* Must be capable and willing to assist mechanical maintenance personnel.

* Must be willing to upgrade skills by participating in vendor training.

* Must be willing to upgrade skills by participating in company-designated training.

* Must be willing to train on any new equipment installations.

* Must be willing to perform any other assigned tasks not specifically indicated.

* Must perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

ATTRIBUTES:

* MUST BE WELL VERSED ON ALL ASPECTS OF SAFETY.

* Must be able to function as a team member.

* Must be a self-starter and possess good verbal communication skills.

* Must have adequate writing skills.

* Experience in a heavy industrial environment would be an asset.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

* Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.

* Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

* Lift over 50 pounds.

* Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
