Facility: Otsego Memorial Hospital at Gaylord
Department: Physician Services- Internal Medicine/Neurology

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides the provider clinical assistance, including preparing patients for examination, treatment or minor surgical procedures. Performs procedures including administering medications, giving injections and immunizations. Schedules appointments and referrals. Performs testing including urinalysis, rapid strep screening, blood glucose monitoring etc. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required include: 1.Successful completion of an accredited educational program for Licensed Practical Nurse. Current state licensure is required. 2.BCLS certification is required within 90 days of start date. 3.Ability to prepare patients for examination, treatment or minor surgical procedures and to assist in minor surgical procedures. 4.Knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures, observations, treatment and techniques utilized by facility, including ECG s, glucose testing, rapid strep screening, urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing and tympanograms. 5.High level interpersonal and communication skills necessary to receive and greet visitors, clients and staff members in a professional manner. 6.Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, peers and others. 7.Analytical skills needed to solve patient problems and interpret data. 8.Ability to provide care for patients in the following age groups: Infant - Birth to 1 year; Child 2 to 12 years; Adolescent 13 to 18 years; Adult 19 to 65 years; Geriatric over 65 years. 9. Ability to lift and maneuver equipment; ability to position and transfer patients using assistive devices and proper body mechanics. Full time Days BLS Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) 1-2 yrs experience Customer service skills are required
